Actress-turned-director Sarah Suco’s debut feature is a mesmerising slow burn set in an insular Catholic community.
When promising 12-year-old acrobat Camille (promising newcomer Céleste Brunnquell) performs in a sketch that seems to make light of prayer, the church’s leader — known only as “The Shepherd” – asks her parents to withdraw her from circus training. While her mother has become emotionally dependent on the parish, and her father seems brainwashed, Camille has to fight for her own freedom and to save her younger brothers and sisters.
Available on December 4, 2020 at 7:30pm.
A Q&A with the director, Sarah Suco, will be made available on December 4.
